Visit to a Miao Village -- Page 2

The Hallelujah Chorus! And here I am still looking for Communism.

Of course the clip you may have just watched was produced
by Jin Fei Bao (I didn't have my camcorder with me that Sunday, but the song
is the same
and the feeling is the same!) and Fei Bao's video also gives a quick glimpse
of the village. On my 2006 visit the old church building had been closed
by the government, due to structural problems, and the congregation was meeting
in a make-shfit rustic building. On the 2009 visit, a new church had
been built, with funds collected by Jin Fei Bao.
The Chinese character introduction to the video says: "Gong
Dong Qing is one of the Miao villages in Songming County of Kunming, Yunnan
Province.
Most people in this village has been believing in Christianity since 1904. Due
to its location in the high and chilly mountain slope, potato is the only
agricultural products which is also being used in trade for their daily necessities.
This church is considered as one of their more luxurious buildings.

The photographs from the 2006 visit were taken by Jin Fei
Bao and the videos below and the photographs from the 2009 visit were taken
by my
granddauther, Krystal Garrison.
