AGREEMENT BETWEEN KUNMING OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA

AND SCHENECTADY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF FRIENDSHIP-CITY RELATIONSHIP

Kunming of the People’s Republic of China and Schenectady of the United States of America, in accordance with the principles of the Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the People’s Republic of China and the United States of America , for the purpose of further enhancing and developing friendship and cooperation between the two cities and promoting mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of China and the United States, and through friendly consultations, have reached agreement on the establishment of friendship-city relationship.

The two sides agree to make concerted efforts, on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, to promote people-to-people friendly contacts and economic and trade interflow between the two cities, and actively carry out exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy, communication, culture, education, science and technology, tourism, etc.

Done in duplicate in the Chinese and English languages, all texts being equally authentic. This agreement shall enter into force on the date of its signature.

The agreement will be valid for five years since the date of its signature, and will continue to be authentic if neither of the two sides proposes to terminate the relationship when it expires.
